Welcome to the Continuous Optimization of Individuals and Organizations (CoIO) Lab
Optimizing Human Capital in Organizations
We are an industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology lab at Montclair State University. The primary research stream in our lab centers on optimizing human capital in organizations, with an emphasis on successful aging and longevity at work. We examine how motivation and work environmental features (e.g., human resource practices) influence important work outcomes over time, given the complex and dynamic nature of the real world.
We also conduct multidisciplinary research, examining how various work schedule features, like shift work and irregular schedules, impact employees' physical and mental health and well-being. These research streams collectively align with our overarching aim of enhancing human potential and organizational performance.
